A Three-Pronged Approach is Focused on Students and Teachers:
Scholarship Award Program:
We will work with a school and teachers to help identify students in need who are eager to further their educational endeavor. Great synergies can happen when teamwork is present between educators, students and mentors who want to help. A positive attitude about learning, combined with the desire to achieve is paramount in academic settings. We believe that scholarship is not a passive noun that describes simply an amount of money; scholarship is the active attainment of knowledge and the thirst to develop one’s intellectual gifts.
Someone who might not otherwise have an opportunity, works hard, and has the drive and desire to be better.
The Scholarship Process is as Follows:
Basic Needs Program:
This is aimed at those less fortunate and those in dire need of the everyday basics (food, clothing, shelter, school supplies), so that they can be better equipped to take advantage of their educational surroundings. Those seeking to qualify for this program should submit a summary that outlines the nature of the circumstances that have predicated the need and a description of the need, itself.
Teacher Recognition Program:
We aim to recognize and reward educators who go above and beyond the call of duty, without any additional compensation or recognition. The passion that teachers demonstrate, each and every day, is laudable. The hard work and extra effort that faculty members devote on behalf of their students often makes the critical difference in the lives of learners everywhere. We want to know your stories and we seek to reward the very best and exemplary educators across our nation.
A Message from the Founders:
The Zukowski Family Foundation was founded by myself (Ray Zukowski), my wife Cheryl, and our two children R.J. and Carissa. It is designed to help children as well as individuals or organizations directly involved with helping children. Whether the children are in need of help in advancing their educational endeavors or are in need of the everyday basics such as food, clothing, shelter, school supplies our foundation will strive to meet those needs.
We included Terryville as a recipient of funds due to my fond memories of all those involved in helping me along my journey. I realize that there were many coaches, teachers, neighbors, and friends that helped guide me through some tough teen years and helped solidify my values as a leader today. I can only hope to play a role in helping others the same way others have helped and guided me.
The Foundation is supported by a great group of close friends that make up our Board of Directors and volunteer 100% of their time helping us make a difference. Our board of directors consists of family members and outside educators, including a professor from the University of Maryland and a retired principal with more than 35 years of experience in the educational field.
